Most central Europeans or other skiers know one or two Alpine skiing stations which they visit on regular basis. A winter flight over the Alps will show us, however, that in the Alps there is a big number of beautiful ski resorts, high mountains and deep valleys. To ensure that the weather would be good for a couple of days we waited for a high pressure to move over the Alps. This then kept excellent weather for the three days of our flying over the Alps.

The first flight day shown on this video took us to Zell am See, around the famous Grossglockner, over several skiing resorts and then to Innsbruck. To land at Zell am See it is important to respect the local approach and landing procedures which can be found on the airport web.

While flying to the Grossglockner area were carefully avoiding the National Park which surrounds the mountain – this in order not the pay the heavy fines which are in force in Austria to prevent any flying machines over the Alpine national parks. We finished the day at the airport of Innsbruck which is controlled commercial airport requiring a flight plan.
