Baltic Sea Islands 4: Not only the islands but also the center of Helsinki and Tallinn

Baltic Sea Islands 4 (video)         The fourth stage of flight over the Baltic Sea islands will also show you Helsinki and Tallinn. And also three airports - Finnish Hanko and Malmi and Estonian airport Kardla.

Day No 4 of the expedition over the Baltic Islands started with a departure from Tampere. The first leg took me to a little field airport of Hanko. This airport was being used by both – the Finns and for some time also by the Soviets in the Soviet-Finnish war started by Stalin at the beginning of WWII.

After refuelling at Hanko, I departed alongside the Finnish gulf towards Helsinki. This video shows a number of islands and islets. This proves how rich with islands the area is and why it has entered the Guinness Book of Records for the number of islands in one area.

The controller at Helsinki main airport Vantaa let me make one three-sixty over the city so you can see it on the video.

After crossing the Gulf of Finland, I was allowed the same over Tallinn so you can also admire the beautiful old city of Tallinn. The flight then took me to a little commercial airport of Kardla in Estonia. An airport which I can recommend because it is very well run, GA friendly, has Avgas available and the airport charges are very reasonable.
