Video: New Zealand 2018 IX. Today´s flight video from New Zealand 2018 Expedition will take you for instance to beautiful Mt. Aspiring and interesting Mount Cook massif.
Flying in New Zealand 2018, Part 9
At Wanaka I visited the aviation museum located at the airport. As there are more old cars on display than aircraft so got through quite quickly.
Then we refuelled and departed to overfly the blueish lake of Wanaka and then through the valley of Matukituki River up to the impressive peak of Mt. Aspiring.
From here we continued to the massif of the highest NZ mountain – Mount Cook. When we were done with filming and photographing this beautiful area we flew alongside the West Coast of the South Island.
After a brief refuelling stop at Westport the flight took us through an impressive canyon and then back to Nelson Aerodrome.

For Europeans New Zealand is, of course, somewhat far away. Therefore we want to bring this beautiful country to you at least on the videos and photos taken during our flight expedition named „New Zealand 2018“. Jiri Prusa flew this expedition in the first part of February which means in the full New Zealand summer. Despite that the weather was far from ideal. Only about half of the time it was VFR flyable.
The weather however, was no good. The alternative was to fly north-east alongside the coast and over less mountainous area. The eastern part of the South Island was sunny as was the aerodrome of Omaka.
The next video from the New Zealand video series video we will publish on Friday, June 8, 2018.
