Video: Unusual landings 1. First video from the new Unusual landings video series shows landing and take off from Nopera airstrip in the north part of South Island, New Zealand.
The first airfield in our new series Unusual landings is a grass Nopera Airstrip hidden among the bays, islands and islets of the beautiful Marlborough Sounds in the northern part of South Island, New Zealand.
Nopera airstip is a private grass strip accessible only from the sea side. Similar to altiports, it is impossible to make a go around here and repeat your landing. Beyond the end of the strip is a forrest and a hill…
The landing is not difficult so unless a tractor or similar vehicle stops in the middle of the strip, you will be fine. The one that was there where we landed was courteous to us and remained on the left side so everything went without a problem.
